A TV media social distance group of 5

What is the name of your Social Distance Group? WXXX TV essential staff.

What parameters determined the size of this group? In an influenza pandemic, it is vital that citizens obtain information from the media. This is the way information about the course of epidemic, recommendations from experts and other information will be disseminated to society. In addition, in a society attempting to maintain social distance, the availability of media will help citizens feel part of the society. This group will be the minimum needed to perform the TV station activities to keep the station functioning.

What is the size of the group? Five. Two camera men, 1 on-camera reporter, 1 producer and 1 lighting/repair person plus 12 family members (4 spouses, one parent of a spouse and 7 children.)

To decrease risk of exposure what will this group do in the following areas?

1. Avoiding face-to-face contact within 3 feet with those outside the group.

1. • Footage will handed over from reporters by being left in a box outside the front door of the station so face-to-face exposure does not occur.
   • Buy groceries and other items only by internet, over the phone or from SDS establishments.
   • No one in the group ever gets within 3 feet in face-to-face exposure with someone outside the group.

1. Avoiding air possibly contaminated with influenza:
   
   

1. • Only these 5 employees will come to the TV station.
     
     
   • None of the group will enter venues (e.g., stores, other buildings) which have contained individuals that are not part of this social distance group.
     
     
   • The 5 employees will only go inside the TV stations and inside their own home and the homes of others in the group.
     
     
   • No one outside the group is allowed into the TV station or the houses of anyone in the group.
     
     

 

1. Avoid exposure to surfaces possibly infected with influenza virus.
   
   

1. • Bags of merchandise will be left in the sunlight or garage for at least 2 hours if possible.
     
     
   • When picking up the bags from SDS stores, use disposable gloves or a plastic bag from home around hand.
     
     

 

1. Transportation.
   
   

1. • All travel will be in the vehicle of one of the members of the group.
     
     
   • If vehicle is repaired, vehicle will sit locked for 24 hrs after the last repair person has been in vehicle.
     
     

 

1. Social gatherings.
   
   

1. • No social gatherings except with members of the group.
     
     

 

1. What food is eaten.
   
   

1. • None of the group eats in restaurants.
     
     
   • Food is purchased from SDS grocery stores.
     
     
   • Fast food is avoided but if purchased, it is purchased from SDS fast food establishments.
     
     

 

1. Religious services.
   
   

• Only three of the households are religious. Two will gather together each Sunday and the other will watch their denominational service on TV as a family.
  
  

 

1. Visits by necessary repairman.
   
   

• Hire only SDS trained repairmen.
  
  
• Leave the building before repairman arrives and go to the home of another family in the group.
  
  
• Do not reenter the home until two hours after the repairman leaves.
  
  

 

1. If any member of the group develops respiratory symptoms
   
   

• That individual will respiratory isolate himself to the best of his ability.
  
  
• Household of the individual will not have any contact with anyone outside the household until 7 days after onset in the first member. (14 days if case is a child.)
  
  
• Back up TV social distance group takes over.
  
  
• If member becomes severely ill, wears N95 mask on visit to medical facility and goes alone if possible. If must be accompanied, accompanied by only one person who also wears N95 mask and carefully washes hands upon return home.
  
  

 

1. Purchase of gasoline.
   
   

• Uses gas stations that accept credit card wand so credit card reader is avoided.
  
  
• Use self supplied glove, new plastic bag, newspaper to hold nozzle.
  
  
• Does not go to store associated with gas station.
  
  

 

1. Waste elimination needs.
   
   

• Uses restroom either at TV station or in the home of one of the group.
  
  
• In an emergency, uses SDS lavatory facility.
